If you practice any style of karate that teaches Naihanchi/Tekki kata, then this book will be a valuable resource--I personally can't wait for the rest of the series! Chris Denwood Sensei is a very knowledgeable instructor, and you can tell as you read this book that he has spent a great deal of time practicing, studying, and thinking about the material. Everything is well thought-out and explained, in detail, so readers of all experience levels can understand.
I will say that this book is NOT for entertainment purposes. You will not find this book filled with stories and anecdotes about training experiences or historical figures to keep you engaged. Nor will you find it filled with images and descriptions of fighting applications This is, essentially, a technical manual for the basics of Naihanchi, which goes into great detail on structure, biomechanics, and power generation--it really isn't for the hobbyist karateka. If you are truly serious about your karate practice, however, then you will surely find great value in this book. The rest of the series will build on the material in this book, so be on the look-out for those to be released!

Really nice written, with tons of useful info regarding probably the most important Kata of Karate.
I really enjoyed this refreshingly new look at this kata. I met Mr. Denwood when we trained together in Okinawa and can personally attest to his level of knowledge and sincerity. I look forward to the next volume.
Chris has done an amazing amount of research into this kata. He gives great detail on the techniques and training methods. Even if the style you study has a slightly different version of the kata, the principles and concepts are still the same. I highly recommend.
